Partnership...

An essential aspect of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc.® is to be of service to our communities. From the start of sisters' membership, the National Office instills and encourages service and philanthropy. We have established national community service initiatives based on basic human needs. Members are encouraged to support them along with specific local chapter service projects, keeping in mind to "support women in need of growth."

Garden State Graduate Chapter - Susan G. Komen Race For Cure Walk-A-ThonAfrican American Community Health Initiative - The goal of this initiative is to create an awareness of the major health concerns and issues that disproportionately affect African-American women and heighten minority communities, i.e., Breast Cancer, Sickle Cell Anemia, Cardiovascular Disease (Stroke & Hypertension), HIV/AIDS and Diabetes. We accomplish this by being advocates for health education and increased access to health resources. We make available appropriate educational materials for identified health concerns, e.g., brochures and articles for distribution. Local chapters coordinate health education clinics and informational programs to include guest speakers and service groups.

Health and Fitness Initiative - This initiative expands the African American Community Health initiative by actively seeking and promoting a more healthy lifestyle. It is designed to focus attention on the importance of minority women taking control of their health: exercising regularly and eating healthier. Chapters are encouraged to sponsor health fairs, School Suppliesseminars, and programs to provide user-friendly information and tools related to nutrition, food, hygiene, and other health issues. Partnering with various health organizations can be rewarding places to volunteer time and effort in service to the local community.

Supplies for Success Initiative - This national initiative is to aid and equip students and teachers with the proper resources to produce a positive learning environment. The objective can only be achieved by providing new and sustainable classroom supplies and materials essential to any learning experience, in addition to expanding the minds of our nation’s students. This is the one initiative that local chapters look to continue expanding their resources and services to "promote higher intelligence" throughout their community elementary, middle, and high schools in need.

Youth Mentoring Initiative - This initiative is vital to the future of our nations youth. It is Swing Phi Swing's goal to promote self-esteem, self-awareness, academic achievement, scholarship awareness and opportunities, and self-respect among young ladies. The mentoring program is designed to encourage and provide opportunities for them to become community leaders on relevant topics that affect youth. The expected outcomes are improved academics, developed leadership skills, achieved confidence in DC Metro Graduate Chapter - Daughter For A Daysocial skills, and structured relationships.

Member Service Initiative - This initiative is to foster service within and outside of the organization. Swing Phi Swing acknowledges that every member has a talent and/or an unique perspective, and when shared with those in need, it helps to foster positive effects within the organization and in their local communities, creating a new dimension in their own lives and the lives they touch. No matter what the talent or gift our members share with others, it helps to sustain a culture of relationship-building among many groups, including youth, seniors, businesses and other charitable organizations.
